    • I completely agree…I remembered these books from my childhood (The Witches was my absolute favorite- and the movie with Angelica Houston is amazing) but didn’t realize until I did this page that so many of my favorites were Dahl’s. This summer I’m going to try to read more of his work!

As a side note…you may have been able to tell the kind of kid I was by my favorite books being by Dahl…I was a little twisted, still am. But I’ve always enjoyed literature that flirts with a darker side and I think students should have a chance to read all kinds of things…I was lucky because my mom never censored my reading. I understand where parents are coming from, but how can you know who you are and what you love if you don’t branch out. I’d have missed out on so much if I hadn’t been aloud to experience a few curse words in the name of great fiction!
